The Trophy Wives Prep Program

The Trophy Wives Prep Program investigates the intersection of contemporary political discourse, historical narratives, pop culture, and the constructed roles of women in Western society. This body of work centers on Campus Cuties—mass-produced, mid-century figurines—recast as participants in a fictional training program designed to produce the “ideal” woman for patriarchal consumption.

The project directly confronts the ways some women collaborate—knowingly or not—with systems that perpetuate misogyny, white supremacy, nationalism, and authoritarianism. Through that collaboration, they uphold structures that ultimately harm not only other women but themselves. The work challenges the myth of empowerment through proximity to power, exposing instead the transactional nature of gendered privilege under patriarchy.

Each sculpture is a 3D-printed reproduction of a Campus Cutie, hand-painted and placed atop a pedestal designed in Photoshop and cut with a laser cutter. These hybrid forms—part consumer object, part artifact—serve as satirical totems of complicity, status, and self-preservation.

By exaggerating and aestheticizing the rituals of assimilation and aspiration, The Trophy Wives Prep Program becomes both critique and cautionary tale—a mirror held up to the cultural forces that continue to shape and limit women’s roles in public life.

Painted 3D prints mounted on laser-engraved boxes. 2021-22.
