The Trophy Wives Awards

Presented as a triptych with references to Olympic medals as well as money, the Trophy Wives Awards are cheap, gawdy and shallow offerings of thanks for women’s skilled, yet unpaid physical and emotional labor during the pandemic. Women, especially women of color, bore the brunt of job losses, caring for loved ones, cooking, cleaning, educating their children, and more. The pandemic revealed, in stark relief, the systemic gender, racial, and economic inequities of our society.
