The Trophy Wives Awards, presented as part of Thresholds in Parameters at California State University, Fresno, used the Campus Cuties figures as fictional award recipients — cast in 3D-printed assemblages finished in gold, silver, and copper leaf. The work examined how systems of recognition can obscure the labor, compliance, and emotional work required to earn visibility, raising questions about who gets celebrated, who benefits, and at what cost. Proximity to power, the work suggests, is not the same as power.
