The Remains of the Day
For several years, I have worked with Campus Cuties, a series of mid-20th-century six-inch figurines originally produced by Marx Toys. These mass-produced representations of women in contemporary dress serve in my practice as transmutable vessels through which I explore privilege, power, proximity to power, and the dissemination of misinformation.
The Remains of the Day marks a recent iteration of this ongoing engagement. These are the literal remnants of wax sculptures shown in a solo exhibition at Corridor 2122 in early 2024—a meditation on the impermanence, hubris, and inevitable decline of empire.
Wax figures, picket fencing, column. 2024.
