The Trophy Wives Awards

The Trophy Wives Awards is a triptych of sculptural forms that draws on the visual language of Olympic medals and ceremonial trophies. These objects adopt the polished surfaces and symbolic weight of awards, pointing to systems of recognition that elevate appearance and achievement while obscuring the labor that makes everyday life possible.

Created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the work reflects on how caregiving, domestic management, and emotional labor expanded dramatically during a period of crisis—often without acknowledgment or meaningful support. The trophies become stand-ins for this contradiction: glossy and celebratory on the surface, yet hollow in relation to the weight of what they reference.

By presenting these forms as awards, the piece asks viewers to consider how value is assigned, whose labor is made visible, and what it means to offer recognition without structural care.

3D Printed Assemblages, gold, silver, and copper leaf. 2022.
